no ones pining hard enough in music anymore for TRULY unhinged emotional pining you have to go back to the 40s/50s when everyone was crazy repressed and dying for connection and intimacy so songs were straight up like “I think about you constantly all day long even though I hardly know you and at night I drunkenly sob into my cigarette and imagine I can hear ur voice” and every listener was like “relate” and that was pop music
